The Username Trend
Facebook is a little late to the whole “Username” trend… But better late than never I suppose. As we know Twitter and Instagram both use the @username and have done for some time now, so why is Facebook so late?
The @username is popular with most Social Networks and with good reason! Writing down your own personal URL takes too long, it’s easy to get wrong and simply isn’t personal enough. At the end of the day, a short and personal tagline makes life easier for you and your customers.
You can now have a Facebook username on your pages as well as your personal accounts, giving a personal touch to your business page. If you’re lucky enough to have the same @username across all platforms it makes life easier for your users and looks a lot more professional, reinforcing your brands image. If you can, try and avoid using a jumble of letters and numbers if you can, say for example you run a cleaning business in oxford, a username of “Cl3aning65743” doesn’t quite cut it compared to “CleaningOxford” for anyone trying to find your service.
You need to be an admin in order to create a @username for your page. This will appear on your Page’s cover photo, in search results and in your Page’s URL to help people find you better. The struggle comes from having to choose a different @username because the one you want is already taken.
To create a username for your Page:
1. Click Create Page @username on your Page’s cover photo
2. Enter a username
3. If the username is available, click Create Username
